Some Ramblings
“About Me and the Fine Art of Shopping”.
Remember when shopping was something you actually looked
forward to? I do.
Growing up in rural western New York State, Saturday afternoon’s meant that Mom might take my sister and I ‘uptown’ to do some shopping…if the house chores were done.
It was actually fun walking through the local retail shops together, seeing what’s new, meeting people and possibly coming home with something ‘fancy’ after a trip to Bradner’s Department Store is still a great memory.
I also remember that stores had people to help you.
Shopping is absolutely zero fun when you finally have an hour or so to shop for yourself, and in the dressing room you realize you need another size.
The arts and being creative have also been substantial influences in my life.
My teenage bedroom was decorated with clipped magazine photos that I formed into large, mounted, artistically shaped collages.
I met the love of my life at culinary school in New York, and with a small child in-tow, I completed that elusive Fine Art degree that still inspires me to create my own art to this day.
Needless to say, at our house, good times or bad, mealtime is ‘delicious’ time together and trips to museums of all shades was, and is, vacation ‘de rigueur’.
Guiding others with design and color for their spaces where memories are created, and helping them enjoy the process, is just another creative outlet for me.
I want to bring that feeling of anticipation, of being served, and happiness into shopping for something really nice and special for your unique home.
The art of shopping enjoyment- imagine it!
